posture
Part of the “when women were dragons” collection, an exploration of feminine rage, inspired by Kelly Barnhill’s book When Women Were Dragons.
“feminine rage…
means that I shift posture in every room, taking up only the appropriate amount of space. always knowing I must prove that I deserve it, after I feel like I probably do not.
looks like the jagged forehead wrinkles acquired when my face is safe to say what my mouth cannot. neither gesture would change much.
feels like my skin is a wheel that my emotions are restlessly running inside, afraid to slow down, often racing against no one except myself.”
3 x 2 feet, oil on canvas
gallery wrapped framing and wired for hanging and signed, titled, and dated on the back of the piece
