Description
the guardian
Part of the “when women were dragons” collection, an exploration of feminine rage, inspired by Kelly Barnhill’s book When Women Were Dragons.
“For most of my lifetime, as far as I can remember in my childhood, l have been angry. Angry at the way I was raised. Angry at the way my siblings were treated. Angry as I got older and found out the way my father treated extended family and those who he supposedly “loved” but crippled to make dependent on him.
My dragon is a guardian of all the people that have helped me keep my peace and watched over me.
My dragon also is me. It is the representation of the inner struggle I have with power, strength, vulnerability, and emotion. It represents the choices I have had to make, and my understanding of being a guardian myself, when to intervene. When to let your loved ones make their own decisions and their own lessons. When to step away.”
